Pressure Canners Product Reviews

All American Quart 921 Review

Welcome to another pressure cooker review. We LOVE pressure cookers on this website, and we are excited to introduce today’s pressure cooker! Today, we are looking at one of the more high end cookers. This is an All American pressure cooker and canner we are looking at today.

Welcome to the All American 921 review!

Before we start the review, we would like to say that if you are new to the world of pressure cookers, we have an excellent article all about our top 6 tips for using a pressure cooker!

The All American Quart Pressure Cooker is a relatively massive pressure cooker and canner as it is 21 and 1/2 quarts. It will hold up to 7 quart jars and up to 19 pint jars.

If you are looking for size, this is an ideal pressure cooker for you! (or pressure canner!)

This All American pressure cooker and canner is made out of durable aluminum that is hand cast. It has a satin finish on it that is very attractive. It uses a sealing system that is metal to metal so there are no gaskets needed. If it begins to become over pressurized there is an automatic safety release. The canner can be set to 5, 10, or 15 psi, depending on what is needed.

When looking online at the people that purchase this particular All American pressure cooker, it seems mostly those that are looking for a canning pressure cooker

If you are new to the world of pressure canning, Wikipedia refers to it as:

Home canning or bottling, also known colloquially as putting up or processing, is the process of preserving foods, in particular, fruits, vegetables, and meats, by packing them into glass jars and then heating the jars to create a vacuum seal and kill the organisms that would create spoilage.

That tells me that this must be a high quality pressure cooker, as you need an excellent quality seal for a canning pressure cooker to work well!

Metal to Metal System for Sealing

The “precision machined” metal to metal system is one of the unique features of this All American 921 pressure cooker/canner.

This particular metal to metal sealing system means that there are no gaskets involved in the entire process, making it easy to take off and replace the lid. Even with this feature, the system will still provide an exceptionally tight steal.

This tight seal will ensure that your food will stay fresh and that there will be no leaks around the edges. This high quality and reliable seal is why this All American pressure cooker is so popular as a canning pressure cooker.

Large Size Holds up to 19 pints or 7 Quarts

As I mentioned in the opening to this All American 921 review, this particular pressure canner/cooker is massive! Some people may even call it “a beast”.

The large size of the All American Quart Pressure Cooker is another reason it is ideal as a canning pressure cooker. You can do much larger batches than a typical pressure canner.

It is typically recommended that a pressure cooker be used to can non-acid fruit and vegetables because the high amount of heat that is generated by the pressure cooker will kill more of the bacteria than a regular hot water bath would.

Also in America, the U.S.D.A. recommends pressure canning as the only way to can meat, fish, poultry, and all vegetables

Although we have talked a lot about using this All American product as a pressure canner, it is of course also perfect for any kind of pressure cooking.

The large size means it will meet the needs of even the largest families. And the fact it is a traditional stove top All American Pressure Cooker means that you have an excellent level of control on how you cook.

If you want to find out more about the pro’s and con’s of stove top versus more modern electric cookers, we have a crash course on our home page.

Construction

As previously stated, this particular All American pressure cooker is made from cast aluminum and has sturdy screws that hold the lid in place. There are no plastic gaskets or rings necessary.

After having this pressure cooker in your hands for a short while, you should get an overwhelming feeling of quality.

This is a great benefit, as this can be your family’s pressure cooker or pressure canner for many, many years to come. The phrase “you get what you pay for” comes to mind. Although this is one of the more expensive pressure cookers, it certainly makes up for that in quality and engineering.
