Pressure Canners Product Reviews

Elite Platinum Electric Pressure Cooker Review

Welcome back to Top Pressure Cooker Reviews and welcome to our Elite Platinum Electric Pressure Cooker Review (yes, that’s quite a mouthful!!).

When buying this particular 8 quart pressure cooker, the EPC-808 model number is hidden away in the product description. I think most customers will refer to this electric pressure cooker as the Elite Platinum Pressure Cooker!

The Elite Platinum Pressure Cooker is made by a company called Maximatic. They have been making pressure cookers for quite a while, but I personally have a feeling they are scaling back on their Maximatic pressure cooker range.

I could be wrong here, but when you go to the official Elite Platinum Pressure Cooker website, you only see two pressure cookers officially listed. Whereas, on Amazon (for example) they have several more!

To me, it feels like they are now focusing more on air fryers. These have been a hot trend in recent years and maybe Maximatic are switching their attention. Or maybe they are simply updating and slim lining the Elite Pressure Cooker range!

This is purely my own opinion, so please do your own research and take this into consideration when buying a Elite Platinum Pressure Cooker!

With all of that out of the way, let’s get on with the Elite Platinum Electric Pressure Cooker Review!

When looking at the Elite Platinum Pressure Cookers by Maximatic, you should first decide whether an Electric Pressure Cooker is what you want. We have a quick crash course on the lower half of our homepage, which should help you decide.

As well as giving our views on this Elite by Maximatic, please refer to the bottom of the page to see some public electric pressure cooker reviews (average consumer reports). This will give you an idea what the average buyer of this product thinks about it!

What are the main selling points of this Elite Platinum Electric Pressure Cooker?

14 Multi-functions

This 8 qt Elite Platinum Pressure cooker boasts being able to cook in 14 ways. This means it has 14 pre-programmed functions to cook almost anything.

The multi-functional pressure cooker is perfect for cooking rice, vegetables, fish, pork, chicken, beans, potatoes, soup, beef, pretty much anything that you want.

You can also brown meat in it or simply keep a dish warm. Try browning the meat for your dish in the pressure cooker and then adding all of your other ingredients. This is a very convenient and healthy way to cook.

Easy to Clean

This Elite Platinum Pressure cooker has several features that make it easy to clean.

The main one is a bit of a double edged sword (in my opinion!) It has a non stick insert, something which will make the cleaning process quicker and easier.

However, I usually recommend a steel insert for longevity over these non stick surfaces. As you have probably seen from non stick kitchen products of any kind, unless the surface is top quality it will start to peel and flake over time.

Of course, the pot insert can easily be taken out of this 8 qt pressure cooker to clean. The lid also has a special design so that it too can easily be taken off for cleaning purposes.

Is it good for Pressure Canning?

This is something of a debate in the pressure cooker community! Yes, it is physically possible to do pressure canning in this Elite Pressure Cooker. As it is an 8 quart pressure cooker, it has the room and they even state this in the Maximatic product manual!

However, there is a twist. In practice, it has been proven that the heat and pressure required for a full proof pressure cooker canning process is not met by these electric pressure cookers.

Even the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) have said they don’t recommend these electric pressure cookers as pressure canners.  There is another excellent article on this subject over at the National Center for Home Food Preservation. I would do your own research and decide for yourself whether you want to take the risk of using these Elite electric pressure cookers as pressure canners!

What kind of warranty do Maximatic offer?

If you head over to the Maximatic website, they describe that they have a one year limited warranty. To qualify for this you must have a dated proof of purchase.

What does the average consumer think?

When looking at electric pressure cooker reviews, we like to consider the average consumer reports. The best place to do this by far is Amazon, a place where you can often see thousands of consumers opinions in one place!

At the time of this writing there were just over 800 reviews of the electric pressure cooker. The average rating of this device was 4.0 out of 5 stars.

Most customers were very happy with how easy it is to use this particular elite pressure cooker. One consumer liked the fact that the pressure cooker was large enough to allow her to cook enough food for an entire week. The most praise came about how easy this particular pressure cooker is to use. Simply press one of the pre-programmed buttons and walk away.

While most consumers are happy with their purchase of this electric pressure cooker, there are a few that have had some issues. One of the biggest complaints is the fact that it just quits working after a short amount of time. Some people have complained that the customer service department of the company is not that friendly.

For the most part, people are pretty happy with all of the great features of this particular pressure cooker and it is definitely one to consider if you are in the market for a new pressure cooker.

Conclusion & Rating

Our Rating: (4.5/5)

So, we are coming to the end of the Elite Platinum Electric Pressure Cooker Review!

The million dollar question, do we recommend it??

I have to say I really like the actual features and usability of this Elite pressure Cooker, and it has a reasonable price of $90!

The problem is that the quality control of this product is questionable. The percentage of users reporting problems with this Elite model by Maximatic are just too high for me!

Couple with this the other complaints about bad or slow customer service, and I would generally say to look elsewhere! Unless, of course, you find the product heavily discounted.

The other big no-no for me is the fact it has a non-stick insert, something you will know I am not a big fan of!

If you are in the market for an 8 quart electric pressure cooker, I would first look at the Instant Pot Lux60, which has an 8 qt pressure cooker variant.

If you have any experience of this EPC-808 Elite platinum pressure cooker, we would love to hear all about it in the comments section below.
